I have a 1.x year old kiddo who is determined to push the boundaries our panic as he explores the house. Somehow, ALWAYS, he manages to find a sharper corner, or gets his fingers into some claustrophobic space. A few days ago, he decided that going BONK against the wooden arms of our sofa was a new form of play. What on Earth.

I am super grateful for our foresight in buying a completely foldable dining table in the early days of our marriage — right now, this table is sitting like a fat flat panel under our bed, definitely out of reach.

We have added a lot of baby-proofing arsenal in the past year. Sharing a few that we have tried and tested -

  • This cute set of 4 silicone door-stops that are small enough not to trip over, but strong enough to withstand the occasional Indian squall.
  • These socket protectors that even adults find hard to remove in one go. Remember not to push them all the way in, but keep a little gap between the socket and protector.
  • This classy room separator that is ideal to keep our little explorers from getting into the kitchen or any other zone in the house that might be risky for them.
  • This funky foam helmet that is a godsend against accidental head-bumps within the house. Comes with a handy chin strap/tie that will prevent them from yeeting the helmet off.
  • These nifty draw/cabinet locks that can be used on flat surfaces and around corners as well. Cabinets, drawers, dishwashers, toilet seats, trash cans, openable windows, food containers, refrigerators, you name it, this is the ideal guardian against naughty toddlers’ fingers.
  • This excellent stair banister guard that closes gaps between railings way better than the cheaper cloth nets
  • This hulk-strong safety gate that does no damage to your walls with unnecessary drilling, and still manages to keep toddlers bamboozled enough to stay away
  • This bug bite protector that has helped us soothe insect bites and mosquito bites instantly, for toddlers and adults alike
  • A roll of foam protector that I honestly wish I could tape over every corner in my house, including furniture. It’s also available in useful cuts to fit corners.
  • Plastic edge protectors that I’ve stuck on all furniture edges. Very firm adhesive.

Hoping this can help some anxious parents to prevent a few owwies for their rambunctious toddlers.

Adios!
